| Is there a Keyboard Shortcut for record on a laptop or do I need to program one? It says Numpad* and Record for the standard Keyboard Shortcuts. Seems weird there wouldn't be a Studio One Laptop preset. |

| You can change keyboard commands at will: STUDIO ONE menu >> KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS.. Have fun!

| Yeah, I know I can assign one. That wasn't what I was asking. The question is, is there a key on the laptop that starts recording or do I need to assign one? It seemed a bit strange that Record would be missing since I assume there are many people recording on laptops. |

There is not one by default on the keyboard of letters. The S1 record button is the ' * ' (Astrix) number key on the keypad (the section next to the letter keys). Now, if your laptop keyboard does NOT have a number keypad, you may have a 'function' key that turns your 'Letter P' into a one. Hope that helps. |

| Thanks, I'm just getting started with Studio One. I've been using Live and Logic for years, but I'm having a fling with Studio One. |

| I must be missing something here! (sorry new to macs and studio one) Studio One menu>>About Studio One/Preferences/Services/Hide Studio One/Hide Others/Show All/Quit Studio One.. Can't Find Keyboard Shortcuts? Searched 'keyboard shortcuts' in help 0 pages found.. I have an iMac with a mini keyboard (same as laptops) and would like to have a record shortcut, bit surprised the alternate keyboard setup had the same record option! Can we set-up a midi trigger also? thanks for any help |

| That's why I switched to logic shortcuts first of all - I now only have to press 'r' and it records. |

Hmm.. I have 'Keyboard Shortcuts..' below 'Preferences..' in the 'Studio One' menu. However, you can also go to Preferences/General/Keyboard Shortcuts

| Ha! Nice one Markus.. That'd work..I'd probably like to set it all up to work the way I had customized Cakewalk but I plan to learn Studio One as it's set out (but I'd rather buy a new guitar pedal than a new mac keyboard!), maybe set up a midi keyboard to control fx etc but if I can't even re-assign a keyboard shortcut I may have a little trouble. Thanks for the idea though I hadn't considered that Luke |

| Well, you're running a pretty old version of Studio One If I remember correctly, keyboard shortcuts where added in version 1.5. The current version is 1.6.3! Download the latest version and you'll be fine!
